Mike Huckabee Interview: His 2012 Decision and Christian Involvement in Politics Posted: 26 Mar 2011 04:45 AM PDT I spoke with former Governor Mike Huckabee (R-AR) Thursday on behalf of KTIA Radio (99.3 FM/1260 AM) before the Iowa Pastors Renewal Project Conference (which will be webcast today). This is my second time speaking with him in person, and I've enjoyed both experiences as he was incredibly friendly and easy going. He was not with any of his own staff. We were not given much time – 5 minutes with which to conduct the interview. I told him that we needed to get started because we had to keep it to five minutes under pain of death. He asked "whose death might that be?" (He wouldn't’ be the one in trouble ). After Chris Rohloff introduced KTIA to him and I introduced Caffeinated Thoughts and told him I had been a blogger for Huckabee in 2008, to which he replied, "God bless you." He also said, "you must know David Shedlock," and I was forced to claim him as one of our contributors (just kidding). So apparently Governor Huckabee was aware of Caffeinated Thoughts before. In the interview we discussed his 2012 decision and what his criteria will be on getting in the race. He mentioned two things – his internal compass, whether or not he feels compelled to get into the race and whether or not they'll be able to raise the funds to complete as that was something they struggled with in 2008. We also discussed what role a Christian should play in politics since there is a debate among evangelicals as to how involved we should be. Be sure to watch the whole interview (it's less than six minutes) below:
If you live in the Des Moines area you can catch this interview along with interviews with Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R-MN), former Congressman Bob McEwen, Christian Researcher & Pollster George Barna, and Historian David Barton, founder of Wallbuilders on KTIA Radio. Just tune in today between 12:00p – 1:00p (CST) to 99.3 FM or 1260 AM. Share and Enjoy: |
Rick Santorum Cancels Iowa Visit Due to Family Emergency Posted: 25 Mar 2011 02:14 PM PDT Former Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA) was slated to speak at Congressman Steve King's Conservative Principles PAC Conference. His office announced that he will not be able to attend due to an undisclosed family emergency. Senator Santorum expressed his regret for having to miss the event, "Unfortunately, due to a family medical emergency, I will no longer be able to attend Congressman Steve King’s Conservative Principles Conference in Iowa tomorrow. I am disappointed that I will not be able to participate in this important gathering of Iowa conservatives, but I look forward to being back in Iowa soon." We at Caffeinated Thoughts are praying for Senator Santorum and his family. Share and Enjoy: |
Michele Bachmann Interview: Prayerfully Considering 2012 Run; Obama Mishandling Libya Posted: 25 Mar 2011 01:30 PM PDT Yesterday I had the chance to catch up with Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R-MN) at the WHO Radio studios in Des Moines as she finished up an interview there with Jan Mickelson. Right before she and I spent a few minutes together she did a phone interview with Jon Scott on Fox News and recorded a radio spot. She's just a *little* busy when she comes out to Iowa. We talked about her potential involvement in the 2012 Iowa Caucus. They are considering whether or not to start an exploratory committee. They will make their decision this summer. Likely it will be early summer as she said "it is very important to be a part of the (Ames) straw poll." She and her husband are prayerfully considering what they should do as it is a vitally important decision. She is confident that the House Republican Leadership will stick to their guns on defunding Obamacare. Regarding education she does not support a federal role in the local schools, opposes No Child Left Behind, and would be supportive of abolishing the Federal Department of Education. On Libya she believes that President Obama is mishandling Libyan situation and that he needed to consult Congress before involving the United States. Then as a native Iowan I asked her the most vital question of all – Hawkeyes or Cyclones? You'll have to watch the interview below for her answer to that question and catch all of her statements about 2012, Obamacare, Education and Libya.
I also was able to meet with her a second time, on behalf of KTIA Radio prior to the Iowa Pastors Renewal Conference. I’ll be posting that this weekend. Share and Enjoy: |
